Lisa Perry Burckhardt
Lisa Perry Burckhardt has worked for Professional Interpreting Enterprise (PIE) since 1997 as a Certified Deaf Interpreter and mentor. In addition to her work at PIE, Lisa holds a full time position with Sorenson Communication as the Milwaukee center VIP Coordinator. She is an RID Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI), and has been certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf since 1996. Her work with PIE has given her countless hours of experience interpreting in numerous settings that include but are not limited to, the medical setting, legal setting, mental health setting, theatrical setting, interpreting with Deaf/Blind consumers, and more. She has developed PIE’s American Sign Language Mentoring Program (AMP). For several years, as a part of her on-going commitment to the field of interpreting, Lisa has been working with the Interpreter Training Program and American Sign Language Program at the University Wisconsin Milwaukee. Her involvement has included developing their evaluation forum, serving as a panel member and teaching Interacting in the Deaf Community: Fieldwork and American Sign Language - levels 1 through 6. In addition, Mrs. Perry Burckhardt has given presentations and workshops on numerous subjects including, but not limited to interpreting models, foundations of using American Sign Language (ASL), mentoring and CDI/Hearing interpreter teams.
