Mike Maffucci

Michael Maffucci is a Deaf Interpreter for PIE. He is also currently a Deaf Mentor for PIE’s AMP program. Michael is an active member of the Deaf community and a transplant to Wisconsin from New York/Washington DC. A graduate of the New York School of the Deaf and former student at NTID and Gallaudet University, Michael has attended numerous workshops and trainings and hopes to gain his national certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).  A member of RID, his work with PIE includes many hours of experience in a variety of settings including medical, mental health, legal, and interpreting for the Deaf/Blind. Michael's expertise and training has allowed him to acquire the skills necessary to assist mentees in analyzing their language skills.  He works with them to develop goals and action plans aimed at improving ASL skills.  Michael thoroughly enjoys sharing his knowledge and experiences with others through his work as a Deaf Mentor.  As a native ASL user he offers a unique perspective on language and culture.  Michael’s hope is that by providing quality mentorship services interpreters will improve their skills and ultimately provide better services to the Deaf community.
