Professional Interpreting Enterprise, Inc. (PIE), opened June 1st, 1996. We provide quality interpreting services between Deaf and hearing individuals in a variety of settings including, but not limited to: Legal, Mental Health, Medical, Educational, Vocational, Professional, Personal. PIE is committed to providing quality interpreting services. We are equally committed to learning about your unique needs and doing what we can to meet those needs. Some of the particulars about PIE are listed below:

General Information

Office Hours
Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM, except major holidays.

Availability
Interpreting services can be provided at any time of day or night.

Credentials
Interpreters who work through PIE hold a variety of professional and educational credentials, allowing us to meet your unique needs. The majority of interpreters working with PIE hold national RID certifications. To provide appropriate service, only interpreters who have legal training are scheduled in legal appointments.

Minimum Charges
We bill in 1/2 hour increments with a minimum of one increment.

Billing
Time is billed in half-hour increments, portal to portal. Appointments lasting 2 hours or more generally require two (2) interpreters working together as a team.

Cancellation Policy
To avoid a cancellation charge, notice must be given two (2) full business days before the appointment.

Consultations
Free consultation is available to assist you in determining service needs and ADA compliance.

Specialized Services
PIE offers specialized services as needed. These services include, but are not limited to: providing trained and certified deaf individuals who work as professional interpreters, working with persons who have unique language needs, persons who are deaf-blind, and/or persons using a foreign sign language.

Emergencies
Emergency services are available at an increased rate on a contract basis.

Last Minute Requests
We recognize that not all situations needing interpreting services are predictable. For this reason, last minute requests are accepted.

Definitions

Regular Business Hours
Regular business hours are defined as the hours between 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Monday - Friday

Third shift hours
9:00 P.M. - 6:00 A.M.

Emergency
Emergencies are defined as any appointment requested less than 24 hours in which the appointment will occur outside of regular business hours.

Legal Settings
Legal settings include but are not limited to: all court proceedings, pretrial services, any meeting with a law enforcement agent, probation/ parole, correctional facilities, attorney/client meetings, depositions, social service interviews, court ordered services, public hearings, grievance hearings, any legal contract negotiations or meetings.

Portal to Portal
Portal to portal is defined as the time when the interpreter leaves her/his home/office to the time she/he returns to her/his home/office.
