WHO are the mentors?

WHO can benefit from being a mentor or protege?

  • Current students or recent graduates from an Interpreter Training Program (Prerequisite:  completion of ASL 4)
  • Working Interpreters
  • Certified Interpreters who are striving to create more native-like interpretations
  • Certified or experienced interpreters who need to enhance their skills in specialized or complex settings, such as medical or legal
  • Parents of children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Teachers or other school staff that work with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Social workers, police officers, or anyone who has contact with Deaf or Hard of Hearing people and wants to communicate more clearly in ASL
  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing People who want to learn ASL or improve their skills.  Some examples: late-deafened adults, Deaf individuals whose background included and emphasis on oral communication or language systems other than ASL
